![]() Howdy! (rhymes with Dowdy) Hello helloooo & welcome. We are two illustrators and husband and wife team, Dylan and Pamela Dowdy. It's very nice to meet you! We have always believed that you should love who you are with and love what you do together. Our passion for handmade art drives who we are and what we do in every aspect. We are the owners, operators, designer and makers behind the Dowdy Studio Wagon, a traveling handmade shop on wheels, popping up shop at local Dallas hot spots and beyond. Find out where we'll be next here. ![]() ![]() In January of 2011 we renovated a 72 square feet empty cargo trailer with bland chipboard wood walls and an aluminum roof. With our visions combined for an unique artistically driven mobile shopping experience, we got to work building and remodeling, the interior of our own kind of love child, the Dowdy Studio Wagon. Our grand opening was held March 12th, 2011 at the Gypsy Wagon in Dallas, which kicked off a spring tour of Dallas and beyond. In February of 2012, we kicked the Dowdy Studio out of our home workspace, a red two-car garage into our very own studio space in East Dallas. We celebrated with a Studio Warming party and now open the studio on most Fridays to the public, and plan on throwing more fun studio parties in the future. ![]() ![]() We started dating in late 2007. Back then, we experimented in wood working, screen printing, canvas painting, sculpting, and much more. Back then the studio was an open formal dining room with cobalt blue walls and a brassy chandelier in a small house rented by Pamela, her sister and a friend. Our art projects in there turned into date nights and date nights turned into true love. Dylan began Dowdy Studio in 2008, and Pamela, formerly artist Pamela Michelle, joined the Dowdy team shortly after the honeymoon. After many years making coffee for the masses, Dylan quit the day job and now does Dowdy Studio full-time. He screenprints his original music inspired designs on clothing and accessories, including wood clocks. Pamela works full-time for Fossil as a senior graphic designer/illustrator, and comes home to Dowdy Studio where she illustrates her own interpretation of nature in her Scandinavian modern style in her jewelry, art and more. We live in Richardson, TX, just outside of Dallas, with our two silly cats, Lulu and Chester. Lulu is lazy and likes to watch us work. Chester is a kitten handful and a half, and if we're not watching, he'll help us work. In our free time, we love decorating our 1960's home, gardening, hunting down good estate sales, trying new foods, riding our bikes and crashing on the couch for a good movie. We are proud members of Etsy Dallas, a local collective of handmade artists in the Dallas area selling their wares on Etsy.com. We joined the team in 2007 and have been energetic leaders, as well as helping put on the semi-annual Spring Bash and Jingle Bashes with help from co-leader Tefi, and the rest of the Etsy Dallas members. Our mission is to spread the love of handmade local goods and encourage Dallas to have fun while supporting their local artists.
